Element-By-Element Essay Creation For "Out,Out-," and "To an Athlete Dying Young"

Although there are many way to compose a compare and contrast essay, the most sophisticated and logical way to create it is with an element-by-element essay. In addition to being sophisticated, an element-by-element essay is better suited for the reader. It allows the reader to follow and understand the essay more clearly. In regards to the two poems, “Out, Out--” and “To an Athlete Dying Young,” I would create a four-paragraph essay with two sub- paragraphs for each of the two body paragraphs.  In the two paragraphs, I would discuss the differences and similarities in tone. I would use diction and punctuation to convey that point. In the first paragraph, the first sub paragraph would only compare the similarities of the tone of the two poems and the second sub-paragraph would discuss the differences. In the second body paragraph, I would discuss the main ideas of the poems and explain how each poem attempts to convey a different motive to its audience. The first sub-paragraph would discuss the similarities between the two and the second sub-paragraph would discus the differences.  Altogether the element-by-element style essay leads to a more creative and sophisticated compare and contrast essay.
